The Pittsburg Headlamp strives to provide high-quality community news and sports coverage for both Pittsburg State University and Pittsburg, Kansas. All content posted to the site is offered free to the public both for personal use and republication.

All content published by the Pittsburg Headlamp is produced by multimedia journalism students in Pitt State’s Department of Communication. The department, which also broadcasts Pitt State sports events and photographs events at Pitt State’s Bicknell Center for the Performing Arts, is home to over 200 students in Pittsburg, Kansas.

The Pittsburg Headlamp was launched in 2021 as the Rural Reporting Project. It was renamed in 2022 to emphasize the local, community news orientation of the project. For more information about the Headlamp, contact Pitt State assistant professor Dr. Ken J. Ward at pittsburgheadlamp@gmail.com

To use any photos, stories, or videos, notify Ken Ward via email at pittsburgheadlight@gmail.com within 24 hours of downloading the content for use. Confirmation of email receipt is not required before publication. All work must also be credited in all uses to both the creator and “Pitt State Dept. of Communication.” For example, “Photo credit Ken Ward, Pitt State Dept. of Communication.”
