Officer in Training

Calvary Scout William Niffen of the United States Army is attending Pittsburg State University in the fall and recently got hired as a University Police Officer for PSU. Niffen has been training for his new position for two weeks, shadowing officers on both the day shift and evening shift. On April 30, Niffen was officially sworn into the department by Executive Director Stu Hite. During the day shift, Niffen shadowed Officer Kyle Herron, who showed the new hire around campus and taught him procedures. While on the evening shift, Niffen shadowed Officer Matt Campbell, who said he enjoys connecting with students in the evening at places like the Student Recreation Center and Overman Student Center. From learning to take fingerprints to talking to students, William Neffin has not had a slow moment since his first day on the job.
